It’s a new era for historic prison tours; new owners, new tours, and new tour guides. This will be our first opening without our founder Judy Krasnow. Judy has decided to retire and promote her book,
Jacktown: History and Hardtimes at Michigan’s First Prison.

We are still dedicated to presenting the fascinating history of Jackson, its prisons and unforgettable stories. Our most popular tour, the Jacktown Double, will be offered Wednesday through Saturday. This three hour tour that takes you on a 180 year walk through Michigan prison history is the only tour in America that takes you to two prisons in one tour.

Going forward we are offering a new tour this year called: The Purples go to Prison Tour. This will focus on the Purple Gang and others like them that inhabited Michigan Prisons during prohibition. From fixing horse races to paying off politicians these guys didn’t let prison get in their way. Also new this year will be events that you as a company or a club can book a tour for your group alone and we will make it a private tour. Call us for details.
